How I Passed the Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900) Exam

Passing the Microsoft Azure AI Fundamentals certification (AI-900) on the first attempt was a proud moment for me. It helped me learn the basics of artificial intelligence (AI) and how Azure services can support AI projects.

Here's how I prepared and successfully passed the exam, along with tips to help you do the same.

I have dedicated 5 days for the preparation and 1 day to review and take the exam. In these 5 days I have covered:

Day 1: Scheduled exam through Pearson Vue and went through the syllabus Microsoft AI-900 exam guide. The course takes approximately 12 hours to complete along with a knowledge check at the end of each unit. Started my preparation, my goal was to complete study material in 3 days and the practice questions.

Day 2 & Day 3: Studied for about 4 to 5 hours each day covering all the units, knowledge checks.

Day 4 & Day 5: By day 4, I have completed the syllabus and started practice tests from Udemy. From the Initial practice test, I was not able to meet the passing score. Then I have to study other materials and browse for some of the YouTube videos related to Microsoft Azure AI. After these, I got better acquainted at how to answer the questions.

Retook Udemy practice tests and choose exam mode for all these test and was able score lot more than just passing score. This boosted confidence in taking the exam. (Exam date can be changed before 24 hrs. of the exam)

Day 6 : On the exam day, I went through my notes (prepared while studying) and reviewed the mock tests taken. Throughout the day I kept myself calm and relaxed and appeared for the Exam.

Exam :

As this is an online test, we must do a system test and prepare our test location 30 min before the exam time. Only use a computer or a laptop with a camera as the session will be recorded.

During the exam, I have experienced a range of questions that tested my understanding of various Azure AI services and principles. Tried to manage the exam time by answering all the known questions quickly and marking tricky questions as review later. This helped me save time in answering the marked questions. I was able to finish the test in time and clicked “Submit”, I was nervous, but I passed!

This filled me with the most happiness and pride as I was able to complete it in a short duration.

This certification provided me with basic understanding of AI concepts like machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, conversational AI, ethical AI principles and how Azure tools can be used to build real-world AI applications.

This is a beginner friendly certification, whoever is new to AI and wants to gain some knowledge can take this certification.
